Marion County issued the following announcement on November 10.

X35 honors FAA Gold Seal flight instructor Roy Beisswenger

Marion County Airport (X35) proudly recognizes Roy Beisswenger as a major contributor to our operations as well as the worldwide aviation community. The ultralight aircraft pilot will be inducted into the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Sport Aviation Hall of Fame ceremony in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Nov. 11.

Beisswenger is a sport pilot/power parachute certified flight instructor and one of the first-ever Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) designated pilot examiners. He is credited with being the longest tenured instructor of powered parachute flying in the nation, instructing for well over 30 years. He also publishes the only magazine associated with power sport flying. He has built and advanced many special events and programs in aviation. He is also relied upon as an FAA expert advisor for regulation and guidance.

The EAA Hall of Fame is the national, and global, pinnacle of recognition. EAA is best known for hosting the annual Oshkosh Air Venture; the largest airshow in the United States. The EAA coordinates this event entertaining some 500,000 visitors from over 80 countries with more than 10,000 aircraft!

As a true pioneer, Beisswenger will soon be recognized as one of the most elite innovators respected by this enormous community. Please join X35 in congratulating Roy Beisswenger on this phenomenal achievement! For more information, contact Marion County Airport at 352-465-8545 or airport@marionfl.org.
