City of Ocala: City of Ocala and MCA to Host Joint Workshop on Public Art Policies

City of Ocala issued the following announcement on November 23.

OCALA, Fla. (Nov. 23, 2021) –  The City of Ocala’s Cultural Arts and Sciences Division, along with Marion Cultural Alliance (MCA) will host a joint workshop Thursday, Dec. 9, Noon to 1:30 p.m. at Brick City Center for the Arts, 23 SW Broadway St.  The presentation will discuss the City of Ocala’s recently adopted Public Arts Policy and Guidelines.

Leslie Nottingham, Cultural Arts Supervisor, will provide an overview of the adopted policy. Some of the highlights of the policy include application, review and installation processes on both public and private property, as relates to public art. The policy also details the City’s process for review and acceptance of donated pieces into the City’s public art collection.  The presentation will also provide information about the City’s Public Art Roster, a resource for businesses interested in commissioning public art.

This workshop is free and open to the public; artists and business owners are encouraged to attend.  Staff will be available for questions upon conclusion of the presentation.
