City of Ocala issued the following announcement on January 27.

Sculpture Installation For Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition

The City of Ocala Cultural Arts and Sciences Division is excited to announce the installation of ten new sculptures selected for the 2022-2023 Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition (OOSC). The ten jury-selected sculptures were installed at Tuscawilla Park in January 2022 and will be on display until January 2024.

OOSC is accompanied by a scavenger hunt, catalog, and an online mobile device tour. The public is invited to attend two events to welcome the sculptures to Ocala.  BOBA (Beginning of Bolted Art) Brunch takes place Saturday, Feb. 19, 9 to 11 a.m. at Magnolia Art Xchange, 531 NE First Ave. Before the official sculpture stroll begins, engage with the artist panel, music, brunch, and mimosas on the beautiful platform of Ocala Union Station.

The Tuscawilla Park Sculpture Stroll Celebration will take place following the BOBA Brunch.  This free community event will happen throughout Tuscawilla Park, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Bring the whole family to enjoy tours, live entertainment, free art activities and vote for your favorite sculpture to win the People’s Choice Award.

“The Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition continues to be a bi-annual staple. The installation of public art provides an engaging and memorable experience for our community,” said Laura Walker, City of Ocala Cultural Arts and Sciences Division Head. “Public Art is accessible to everyone and encourages thought and creative expression.”
