City of Ocala to Host Proposed Redistricting Public Meeting

The City of Ocala will host four public meetings about proposed redistricting in Council Chambers, 110 SE Watula Ave.

• Wednesday, Sept. 28, noon and 5:30 p.m.

• Thursday, Oct. 6, noon and 5:30 p.m.

These meetings are free and open to the public.

The Ocala City Council has the authority, by ordinance, to redesignate the boundaries of each district after each decennial census conducted by the United States Government. Redistricting is the process of drawing boundaries for political districts and ensuring equal representation; it is also a current reflection of population shifts within the city limits.

Four sessions will be available to accommodate the public. The meetings will cover the proposed redistricting maps, and staff will be available to answer questions. Each session will present the same information.

For more information, or if reasonable accommodations are needed, please contact Growth Management at 352-629-8404.
