NOTICE OF ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
FOR VACANCIES ON VOLUNTEER ADVISORY BOARDS
The Marion County Board of County Commissioners currently has vacancies on the following volunteer boards:
1. Code Enforcement Board
(1 Alternate/Unexpired Term)
(1 Alternate/Full Term)
Members shall be residents of Marion County. Applicants should have experience or interest in zoning and building control, ad shall, whenever possible be in the field of architecture, engineering, general contracting, or subcontracting.
Responsibilities: Members have the jurisdiction to hear and decide alleged violations of County ordinances, subpoena alleged violations and witnesses to its hearings; take testimony under oath; issue orders having the force and effect of the law including establishment and levy fines pursuant to County Ordinance.
2. Industrial Development Authority
(1 Full Member/Full Term)
Applicants must be electors and residents of Marion County.
Responsibilities: Consider industrial and manufacturing projects with appurtenant facilities and determine the appropriateness of financing such projects through the issuance of industrial development boards Ordinance.
3. Marion Oaks MSTU for General Services
(1 Full Member/Unexpired Term)
Members shall be residents of Marion Oaks MSTU.
Responsibilities: May participate in preparation of annual budget, review and comment on programs, activities, operations, goals and objectives of the district and make recommendations on these and other issues to the BCC.
4. Marion Oaks MSTU for Recreation Services and Facilities
(2 Full Members/Full Term)
Members shall be residents of Marion Oaks MSTU.
Responsibilities: May participate in preparation of annual budget, review and comment on programs, activities, operations, goals and objectives of the district and make recommendations on these and other issues to the BCC.
5. Hills of Ocala MSTU
(1 Full Member/Full Term)
All members shall reside within the boundaries of the district.
Responsibilities: Participate in the preparation of the annual budget request, review and comment upon programs, activities, operations, goals and objectives of the district. As requested by the BCC, review all expenditures of district funds and provide comments thereon.
Applications for said vacancies may be obtained at the Marion County Board of County Commissioners’ Office located at 601 S.E. 25th Ave., Ocala, Florida; online at www.marionfl.org or by calling 352-438-2323.
The deadline for receiving applications is Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 5 p.m. The Marion County Board of County Commissioners plans to appoint members on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, or as soon thereafter as possible.
