Foundation donate mobile home for onsite security at Belleview Sportsplex

Mobilehome

The Marion County Board of County Commissioners accepted the donation of a mobile home from the Friends of Marion County Parks & Recreation Foundation, Inc. The mobile home is planned for the Belleview Sportsplex and will be the parks system's sixth on-site law enforcement residence program.

The on-site residence program leverages staffing while providing site security and a law enforcement presence to deter crime. “We’re extremely grateful for this organization’s generosity,” said Parks & Recreation Director Jim Couillard, “large-scale donations like this, whether they be time or treasure, are deeply beneficial to our organization.”

The Friends of Marion County Parks & Recreation Foundation, Inc. has, once again, proven to be an essential and impactful organization for Marion County. This local nonprofit provides volunteer and financial support to the programs, services, and facilities operated by Parks & Recreation.

Foundation members volunteer for recreation programs and large-scale events like the department's annual carnival and trunk-or-treats. The Foundation garners sponsorships and event and large-scale project funding allowing tens of thousands in summer camp scholarship funding to youth in Marion County. These scholarships are the Friends’ true gifts to Marion County, allowing children who wouldn’t otherwise get to experience a summer filled with adventure. “We are proud to be able to provide these scholarships to the youth of Marion County,” said Friends President Jerry Furlong, “It is, without a doubt, the best initiative of this organization.”

As the Friends organization continues to grow, so will it’s charitable giving, and we are excited to continue watching its mission in action.
