City of Ocala to Host Proposed Golf Cart Map Expansion Public Meetings

The City of Ocala will host two public meetings about the proposed expansion of the downtown golf cart map Thursday, Aug. 18, noon and 5:30 p.m. at Brick City Center for the Arts, 23 SW Broadway St.  These meetings are free and open to the public.

The meetings will cover the proposed golf cart map expansion and allow for community input. Staff will be available to answer questions.  Downtown business owners, current golf cart permit holders and those potentially impacted by this change are encouraged to attend.

Two sessions will be available to accommodate the public, with the first beginning at noon and the second beginning at 5:30 p.m.  Both sessions will present the same information.

If you are currently in the golf cart area, and have yet to apply for a permit, please visit www.ocalafl.org/GolfCart to start the application process. Persons operating a golf cart or low speed vehicle within the downtown area are required to register for a one-time permit at a cost of $30.00.  This registration fee will be used to provide law enforcement with ownership information in the event of an accident or theft. A decal will be assigned to the vehicle and must be displayed on the left side of the vehicle.

For more information, or if reasonable accommodations are needed, please contact the Growth Management at 352-629-8404 or building@ocalafl.org; or visit www.ocalafl.org/GolfCart.
